Ways to Stay Positive That Take Minimal Effort

Creating and maintaining a positive lifestyle is less about the Big Moments than it is about the daily little steps you take to keep that positivity front and center no matter what bumps, curves, or sudden potholes the road of life introduces you to. Luckily, making that daily commitment to your positivity doesn’t have to be overwhelming or require large chunks of time in order to be effective. We get it, life is busy, sometimes you only have five or ten minutes to prioritize Positivity in your day. So let’s look at a few ways to stay positive that don’t require much effort at all.

Morning Ritual

A morning ritual can be as simple as getting up and journaling while you prepare the coffee or reading for ten minutes when you get out of bed instead of checking your phone. If you enjoy putting on makeup, that can be a meditative part of your morning ritual. Whatever works for you, whatever things you can do as soon as you wake up to lift your spirits and feel a little better, incorporate those into your morning routine. The key here is doing something as soon as you wake up. It sets the tone for your whole day in just a few, brief moments.

Be Realistic

Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by our big dreams and big ideas that being positive about them seems almost impossible. In moments like this, it’s important to remember what you can do in this moment. What can you do today to get you a tiny bit closer to that big dream? What can you adjust, look at differently, or eliminate from your life to get rid of stress and remember that this is a journey, not a finish line? Be realistic with yourself and you’ll often find that stressors subside quickly.

List Strengths

Maybe you’re feeling down in the dumps today, and you’re not sure how to dig yourself out of this metaphorical hole you’ve found yourself in. All you need is a reminder that you have amazing qualities and resiliences that will lead you through this moment and into a brighter, more positive future. Take a few minutes and list your strengths. If you can’t think of them yourself, ask someone you love to remind you what makes you strong, or list them while considering what people you love would say if you can’t ask someone else in this moment. Remember that there is a well of positivity within you that just needs to be tapped into once again to feel that power.
